One can take advantage of having it as a houseplant. It is known to be one of the best “purifiers” in the flat. On the one hand, it removes all indoor air toxins. On the other hand, it releases abundant amount of moisture into the air.

If you want to grow a stunning, healthy plant, you should know what to pay attention to when buying the specimen. Make sure that the cultivar you are purchasing doesn’t have copious dead leaves, weird smelling or soggy soil.

Etiolated plants are grown as tall as possible and as fast as possible but it doesn’t mean that they are healthy enough. Instead of getting a tall but obviously weakened palm, buy a more compact one. Examine the undersides of the foliage for bugs, such as mealy bugs for example.

If you notice little cottony dots, that means the plant is infested. If there is subtle speckling, it can be a sign of spider mite damage. Make sure the roots are coming out of the bottom of the pot. It’s good if they do: that will mean that the plant is growing well.

This simple advice will prevent you from having a lot of troubles with the chosen plant in the future.
