Species of yucca: yucca filamentosa

yucca_filamentosa

I have found some yucca images recently. The plant is terrific! The foliage is leathery, sword-shaped. In the very centre there is a gold ending. The plant was depicted blooming with large creamy-white flowers.

I did some research and found out that this specimen is called Yucca filamentosa “Bright Edge”. This dwarf cultivar even gained the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.

I must confess I fell in love and decided immediately I had to get myself one of those. Unfortunately, the garden shops in our town didn’t have this species.

But a shop assistant in one of them suggested another cultivar – Yucca filamentosa Golden Sword. She told me that this specimen was similar to the one I was looking for, just a bit larger.

So I planted the Golden Sword and was not disappointed at all. This species looks very exotic and, to my mind, it’s one of the most attractive plants in my house.
